SmartCounty Kiambu

A complex but comprehensive website for the Kiambu county government, addressing revenue collection for various services such as project management, advertisement fees, street parking payment, permit application, and a constituent feedback module.

Role: UX Research, UI Design, Branding, Asset Management

Description: Identifying pain points, creating user profiles and flowcharts, wireframing, designing aesthetics and branding, and producing both mobile and web interfaces. Lastly, meticulously cataloguing the assets before handing over to the development team.

AniMATE

A passion project that I use as my personal testing ground, as I continue to learn new programming skills. I'm always reiterating it, improving on the UI and adding features.

Description: Coded the website from scratch using HTML and JavaScript. Styled from scratch using CSS. Integrated the site with a public API, making it possible to search for any existing anime, animation, or cartoon. It conveys an error message if the spelling is wrong or the show does not exist.

HalalSwift

I was commissioned to design a banking app aimed specifically towards the Somali/Muslim community in Kenya. Since they have a unique banking system sanctioned by Shari'a law, this app is a middleman between the three involved parties - the customer, the vendor, and Shari'a compliant financial institutions.

AppInApp

A massive project meant to combine a variety of functions into one app - paying bills, acquisition of goods and services from trusted vendors, and mirroring various job search sites all on one convenient platform.

Role: UX Research, UI Design, Asset Management

Description: My team took over from another designer who had established the branding. We created the user profiles and flowcharts for regular users and vendors. We wireframed and made the completed UI for web platforms. This is still in development, as setting up the servers and backend is a massive undertaking.

JayRide Car Rentals

A friend asked me to create a website for his car rental business, and I used it as an opportunity to practice transitioning from coding with vanilla Javascript to coding with React. This is just a sample React app for now.

Role: Frontend & backend programming

Description: I set up the API & database from scratch, and coded a website that allows the user to: log in and register an account, choose an available car from the database, and book it on the specific days that they need it. Since this is still mainly a functionality test, I haven't yet styled it or populated the database with the appropriate information.

HTML E-mail templates

I have experience in creating e-mail newsletters from scratch using HTML and CSS, and using templates as well as troubleshooting.
